Explore the region

Our cellar door and wine cafe are situated in the majestic Great Southern region at the bottom of Western Australia. There are so many world class attractions right at our doorstep with stunning coastline, national parks and loads of history.

We have put together a list of some of our favourites to help you plan your next adventure. All of these locations are within one hour of Gilberts! There are so many other attractions in the region but these are a sneak peak at some of the best!

The Stirling Range National Park - Bluff Knoll

Formed more than 1,000 million years ago, Bluff Knoll is the highest peak in the Stirling Ranges. It is home to over 1,000 species of wildflowers and flowering plants. The climb to the top takes approximately two hours. We also highly recommend also taking the drive through the middle of the National Park. You can immerse yourself in nature at its finest with stunning views!

The Gap & Natural Bridge Albany

These attractions provide outstanding views out over the Southern Ocean and the coastline from Bald Head to the West Cape Howe National Park.

The Gap provides a viewing platform where you can venture out onto, which is directly above the surging seas below. We highly recommend visiting on a rough weather day! The experience is unreal!

William Bay Denmark - Greens Pool

This had to make our list of a must visit place in the Great Southern! It is our favourite place to go for a swim and snorkel! Greens Pool is almost completely sheltered from the waves of the Southern Ocean. The calm and protected turquoise waters make it ideal for swimming of all ages and the snorkelling is fantastic! It truly is paradise!

National ANZAC Centre Albany

The National Anzac Centre is an award-winning facility that uses multimedia, interactive technology and historical artefacts to create a deeply personal connection with the past, as well as pay tribute to those who served. The experience delivered at the National Anzac Centre is known for commemorating the war through the stories of the Anzacs as opposed to telling its own story via pro-war or anti-war sentiments.
